Warm harvest colors and glowing candlelight gave Robyn and Sam's autumn wedding a cozy vibe. Soon after moving to San Francisco, Robyn met Sam (also 33 and a business development associate) through mutual friends. The two hit it off, but since Robyn’s family was so excited to see her new home, “our official first date for dinner included my mother!” says Robyn (who’s a partner and designer at a multimedia communications company). As it turns out, Sam never had any reason to worry. Robyn says, “My mom is a great judge of character, and I knew she would immediately become a rather large fan of Sam.” After dating for about three years, the couple planned a day hike on the Dipsea Trail. Though Robyn noticed Sam’s quiet, pensive demeanor, she thought he was just tired. Then, while taking in the view from the top of the mountain, she received a sweet surprise: “We were eating M&Ms, and out of the bag came a beautiful diamond ring,” Robyn says. It was the same ring that Sam’s dad had given to Sam’s mom when he proposed to her. Robyn accepted Sam’s proposal, and the two celebrated fittingly by catching a performance by the Super Diamond band that night.
