Rachel & Matthew: A Traditional Wedding in Pittsburgh, PA
It's a good thing Rachel doesn't mind swing dancing. When Matthew needed a partner for a group class that his friend had organized, he called Rachel. Matthew was a volunteer at the science museum and Rachel tagged along with a friend who worked at another museum. All of the young people at the party (There weren't many! says Rachel) exchanged numbers at the end. A month later, after Rachel accepted Matthew's dance class offer, she showed up wearing a blue button-down shirt with black buttons—coincidentally, that's exactly what Matthew was wearing. They learned they had more in common than dancewear and started dating after that. After an eight-year relationship, the couple decided to spend New Year's Eve in Scottsdale, Arizona. As the ball dropped, Matthew popped the question. A year and a half later, the couple held a red, white and silver wedding that fused their Jewish and Chinese backgrounds.
