Rachel first met Josh in 1997 when they both moved to San Francisco from the east coast (they had a mutual friend). But it wasn't until 2004 that they officially got to know each other when Rachel needed a place to live. She knew that Josh had a spare bedroom in his apartment and it was just what she needed. She moved in quickly and the pair became flirty friends. A few months later, Rachel got a job in Martha's Vineyard -- right before she moved, the roommates kissed for the first time. Rachel and Josh kept in touch over the next six months until Rachel transferred back to San Francisco and moved into her old room in Josh's house. Initially they remained just friends, but that didn't last long.
