When Quinn met James as a student at Michigan State University, she had no idea she’d return to her alma mater years later for a heartfelt winter proposal. When the two met in the afternoon, he presented her with a series of envelopes with times written on them. At 2 p.m., she was scheduled for an updo at a local hair salon, and at 5 p.m. the couple planned to check into a local bed and breakfast for a 7 p.m. dinner. Caught up in James’ thoughtfulness, Quinn started to walk away when he handed her one more envelope. Confused by the contents -- a certificate for the diamond in her engagement ring -- she looked up at James, who was pulling a ring box out of his pocket. “It finally hit me!” she says, and happily she accepted his proposal.
