Melissa Clark (30 and a sales producer) and Matthew Elliott (29 and in sales) drew upon their love of graffiti for their wedding. “I wanted to make sure there was lots of color,” Melissa says. “I really love jewel tones.” The Prospect House in Dripping Springs provided a blank canvas for the couple to add in pops of blue and burgundy. Matthew opted for a black-and-white gingham tux with a burgundy velvet bow tie to stand out even more against the all-white venue and Hill Country landscape.
“I really let our florist run with whatever she wanted, which is the best call I could have made,” Melissa says of her rich and moody bouquet.
Smilax vine and clusters of burgundy ranunculus, black magic roses and other seasonal greenery topped the venue’s existing white arch. “It was one of my favorites,” Melissa says.
The bridesmaids chose Hayley Paige black dresses and black or jewel-tone shoes. After discovering the blue tie-dye linens at La Tavola, Melissa knew they had to be incorporated on the table spread. Wanting to remain traditional with a twist, Melissa added a modern font to the opulent stationery. A friend calligraphed escort tiles, which doubled as a take-home for guests.
Blooms and taper candles decorated wood tables where guests ate paprika fried chicken and roasted garlic and Gruyère mac and cheese family style. For a hint of color, the couple cut into a Key lime and almond cake with dusty-blue buttercream icing. Melissa and Matthew didn’t want to miss out on the fun after their sparkler exit, so they hopped on a bus back to the hotel to keep the party going.
