A Preppy Backyard Wedding at a Private Residence in Landgrove, Vermont
Holly Donaldson (27 and a development officer) and Adam Casella (28 and an MBA candidate) met through mutual friends. Inspired by the natural beauty of Vermont’s landscape, Holly and Adam planned a backyard bash that was equal parts elegant and effortlessly chic. “We really wanted to embrace the location and let it lead the way,” Holly says of decking out her family’s home in shades of blue and her favorite green hue.
Prior to the start of the ceremony, guests selected flower petals from a pop-up bar and placed them in paper cups. As the newlyweds made their way back up the aisle, onlookers showered Holly and Adam with the blooms.
Kearsley Lloyd and Albertine Press created a custom letterpress stationery suite complete with watercolor illustrations of Landgrove, a one-of-a-kind crest and an organic leaf motif. The groomsmen attire—most notably their forest-green trousers and cheerful yellow ties—borrowed heavily from Vermont’s lush natural scenery.
The couple—who attended rival high schools—showed some school pride post ceremony. Vintage figurines belonging to Holly’s grandparents topped the cutting cake.
The couple’s custom crest was displayed above an ornate wood bar adorned with verdant garlands. “All of the tables were topped with cornflower-blue runners and illuminated by candlelight,” Holly says of the sophisticated tablescapes. “It looked magical once the sun began to set.”
