Postceremony Traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony

“My favorite detail was the traditional tea ceremony that took place immediately after the ceremony,” Yan says. After exchanging vows, Yan and Stephen gathered with their closest family members at the arbor to perform the traditional Chinese custom. “Serving tea to your new family is a symbol of respect and love, and in return they welcome you by giving you jewelery, which often includes family heirlooms,” Yan says. “I appreciated this part of the wedding the most because it represented my culture and roots—it’s something I’ve dreamed of doing since I was a kid.”
