Plants Were Everywhere at This Michigan Wedding Hosted in a Greenhouse

Anna and Drew Hendrickson chose their venue, Goldner Walsh in Pontiac, Michigan, for its rustic and eclectic style. "We both love camping and it felt like home," Anna says.  "We didn’t really have wedding colors, but chose a mix of whites, greens and rich colors that felt like fall to us." The couple's pre-marital counselors and family friends officiated the outdoor ceremony. "We did an opening prayer together as a family and had close family members read Bible verses that mean a lot to us," Anna says, adding that they also planted a tree to symbolize their unity. The greenhouse reception had plenty of DIY elements made by the bride (an artist) and her mother (an interior designer) after months of thrifting.  For example, they whipped up a chalkboard welcome sign with grasses, which was displayed at the ceremony site. One of the most stunning DIY items was a plantalier (plant chandelier) that hung over the dining area, made with faux greenery and PVC pipes.  The couple decorated their reception with neutral linens, eucalyptus leaves and other bohemian touches. Adding in some non-traditional elements, they served pie for dessert, and they skipped the father-daughter dance. "My dad and I sang a song together. It was really personal to us because we have been singing together at family gatherings for a while and it brings back a ton of memories. We practiced together for weeks and it was so nice having that time together before the wedding," Anna says. The bride wore a strapless dress with a fitted bodice and sweetheart neckline." One of our family friends tailored the dress to fit me and added in ribbons and hooks so we could pin up the train after the ceremony," Anna says. Drew coordinated nicely with a navy blue suit.
