An Ultra-Personalized Pink-and-Turquoise Wedding at Gull's Way in Malibu, California
There's personalization and then there's ultra-personalization. For their celebration at Gull's Way in Malibu, California, Joan and Nghi went all out with customizing their wedding details to ensure the big day felt uniquely their own. From a custom monogram used on their invitations and even on custom shot glasses to pink-and-turquoise residential reception decor, each and every element of the wedding was stunning, thoughtful and just plain memorable. "The inspiration for our wedding was glam but make it intimate. We wanted a beautiful combination of creams, pinks, and a touch of green," explains Joan. "Since Nghi and I come from two different cultures, we decided not to do the Korean and Vietnamese traditions. Instead, we wanted to have a wedding to celebrate just us and have our family and friends enjoy their night out with us. As for decor, everything I ever wanted in my dream wedding, was there. I love flowers and I was so grateful to see that there were so many beautiful floral arrangements on every part of the wedding. It was heavenly!"
Especially if you have a large guest list it can be hard to spend valuable time with every attendee. However, Joan and Nghi made it a priority at their wedding to not only speak with each guest but also to get pictures with everyone in attendance. "We went around each table and took shots with our family and friends. It was so fun and a great time for us to mingle with our guests," recalls Joan.
While the couple enjoyed the time they spent with each guest, Joan was especially thankful for one VIP: her dad. "There were a lot of special moments that I can list, but one thing that I will be forever grateful for is walking down the aisle with my dad. Growing up, my dad and I never had a really close bond, but he was always a great dad. Sharing the moment when he walked me down the aisle and sent me off to Nghi was something I will never forget," she shares.
The couple credits their wedding planner as the genius behind many of their bespoke wedding details. "Our wedding planner created the most beautiful and breathtaking dreamy wedding for us. I wouldn't have changed it one bit! I especially loved the cart with Hennessy XO shots. I also loved our cake on the ice sculpture too. Honestly, everything about our wedding is my favorite. Even the photo booth we had was so much fun. I would say though, Nghi's favorite was the In-N-Out truck that came later at night as a late-night snack."
Because of their great experience hiring a wedding planner, Joan and Nghi encourage all other to-be-weds to follow suit. "Having a wedding planner makes life so much easier for the couple. I know wedding planning can be stressful, but just meet your partner halfway on certain things and ask yourself, is it worth it in the end?"
