Recurring butterflies -- literal ones! -- became a sign to Marcus that Peri was the one. After meeting her at a Chinatown rooftop party on the Fourth of July, Marcus saw a Monarch butterfly flittering around and knew something was special. Over the next two months, as he tried to court Peri, Marcus had run-ins with three more butterflies. (Not a common occurrence in the city!)
