Patriotic Wedding at the Antrim 1844 Country House Hotel in Taneytown, Maryland

Jen McGrath, a registered nurse, and Mark Schultz, 31, in the Navy, were overlooking the Washington Monument in DC surrounded by cherry blossom trees when Mark proposed. Mark had convinced Jen they were taking a picture in front of the Monument, when really he was recording the whole proposal as he got down on one knee and presented a Tacori engagement ring. The couple chose to have their wedding at Antrim 1844 Country House Hotel, an old mansion with an indoor and outdoor space in the hills of Taneytown, Maryland. Patriotic colors of red, white and blue combined with the couple's love for traveling made up the main themes seen throughout the wedding day. Jen wore an ivory halter wedding dress designed by Maggie Sottero, with a champagne sash around the waist accented with beading around the neckline, which she had won at a Marine Corps Ball and Bridal Gown Giveaway. The groom and his groomsmen had all served in the military, so it was an east choice to wear all their uniforms on the wedding day. "Something special we wanted to share with our guests was to remember the men and women who have been captured as Prisoners of War or are Missing in Action," says Mark. "A special table was set next to the sweetheart table in their honor, and one of the groomsmen described the meaning of the place setting in a speech that brought tears of pride and honor to our guests."
