The ceremony was a fusion of the couple’s respective African-American and Slovak-American-Jewish cultures. “We broke the glass, jumped the broom and toasted with 'na zdravie' ["cheers" in Slovak] to shots of Jack Daniel's,” Michal-Anne says. “We spent a lot of time thinking about the ceremony. “It was important for us to have a ceremony that reflected the power of the love we share and honor the traditions of our families and life together.”
