Outdoor wedding at Fort Mitchell Country Club
In the midst of their busy and very different lives, Jenna Fay (26 and a physical therapist) and Will Smith (36 and an executive chef) met online through a dating website. “I was immediately drawn to Will's profile picture staring off into the distance with a serious face. It helped that he wanted a girl who ‘walked barefoot in the gravel’ — I’m from a rural town and frequently go barefoot,” says Jenna. “I also have a love for cooking and was intrigued by him being a chef and a single father. I contacted Will and we began getting to know each other.” A year later, on a family vacation to the Outer Banks, Will proposed with Jenna’s whole family present.Green rolling hills, a picturesque setting and old-time charm drew the couple to the Fort Mitchell Country Club in Fort Mitchell, KY. The site also allowed the couple to host both the ceremony and reception in one location, which was important to Jenna, whose family was coming from out of town for the occasion. With the wedding date set for September 20, Jenna and Will decided on a color palette and decor that celebrated the season. Burnt orange and sangria purple fit the bill, while still feeling playful and vibrant. Brightly hued floral arrangements with roses, lilies and carnations were key in transforming both the outdoor and indoor spaces. Playing off their love of food and cooking, the couple incorporated touches like modern clementine centerpieces, S’mores favors, a cutting board guest book and an assortment of inspired food stations instead of a traditional sit-down meal, like a mashed potato bar, shrimp and grits station and a slider station, into the day.
