One Couple's Romantic Greenery-Filled Multicultural Wedding at San Francisco City Hall in California

San Francisco native Salima wanted a classic San Francisco wedding for her celebration with Matthew. “San Francisco City Hall is such an iconic part of my hometown,” she says. The couple honored Matthew’s heritage with a traditional Jewish wedding, while incorporating subtle Indian elements like henna on Salima’s hands, classic ghagra choli bridesmaid gowns and jute details on the stationery. A jute-bound book doubled as both invitations and a love storybook that would become a keepsake for each guest. Escort cards hung from a large tree on handmade fringe chiffon ribbon.  A nod to the couple’s love of hiking, greenery in the floral arrangements was a must, so lush greenery flowed out of large glass vases, complementing the ornate space of City Hall. Bridesmaids chose one of three custom-made, hand-dyed ghagra choli to pair with their own top. “We wanted to unify the wedding party, but also give an opportunity for people to have their own style and pull from their closet,” Salima says. After exiting the ceremony to The Beatles’s “All You Need Is Love” sung by the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir, the couple got the party started with the hora and lined up late-night upscale Indian street food.
