One Couple's Old World-Inspired Wedding at the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, Florida
“I build themes and styles for a living, and conforming to one is so not my style,” Rachel says of planning her St. Petersburg wedding to John (Trey). Wanting to surprise guests at every turn, Rachel curated details like illustrated invitations and fruit-filled florals to create a wedding suited for the romantic, Old World-inspired venue where the celebration took place. A floral arch framed the newlyweds at the head table with blooms in shades specially chosen to mimic the colors of the bride’s dress. “I always thought that I would either design my dress or wear vintage, but I fell in love with a dress at Monique Lhuillier and purchased it within five minutes,” Rachel says of her A-line gown with delicate straps and a guipure lace bodice.“The bouquets were whimsical, romantic and had movement to them—totally museum-worthy,” Rachel says. “One of my favorite memories was seeing the reception and how it was designed for the first time,” Trey says of the colorful bash Rachel put together. “It was so magical, and I knew all of the hard work that Rachel put into it but could never visualize in my head what it would look like until that moment. I was so proud of her.”
