One Couple's Modern Wedding With Chinese Accents at the Sagamore Pendry in Baltimore, Maryland
Sophia and Antony “Tony” planned their wedding with two very different color palettes in mind. “I really wanted a lot of white, gray and lavender,” Sophia says, “but I also wanted to honor my Chinese heritage, and in Chinese culture, red and gold symbolize good fortune and prosperity.” In that spirit, minimalist stationery, white hydrangeas and the couple’s classic Western looks fulfilled Sophia’s muted vision, while a red tea ceremony and colorful traditional outfits paid tribute to Sophia’s roots
.Sophia and Tony gave loved ones the gift of happiness—double happiness, that is. “Guests took home little wood boxes with the traditional Chinese double-happiness symbol on them, the colors signify good fortune,” Sophia says. Ferrero Rocher chocolates, the couple’s favorite, were nestled inside the gift boxes. After making their entrance to “Bad and Boujee” by Migos, the newlyweds got the party started with celebratory Chinese dragon dancers.
