Navy and Pink Wowed at This Wedding at the Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga, California
Sima and Nikhil let Indian traditions guide their wedding at the Montalvo Arts Center. They kicked things off with a musical baraat processional and married under a mandap, but shortened their ceremony to a brief 45 minutes. Sima wore a jeweled lehenga in peach rather than the typical red (“It’s one of Nikhil’s least favorite colors,” she says) and chose a soft, neutral color palette to match. “It all tied together so beautifully,” Sima says. For the reception, Sima slipped into a blue floral lehenga, while Nikhil opted for a navy tux and velvet slippers. Peonies, lisianthus, roses and eucalyptus filled mercury-glass urns as guests found their seats at a wood stand displaying gold wire rings, which doubled as escort cards. Traditional Indian treats, like ras malai (sweet cheese balls), complemented the American dessert spread, including an inky-blue fondant and pink buttercream cake.
