This Wedding at the St. Regis Deer Valley in Park City, Utah, Included Epic Mountain Portraits

When it came time to say "I do," Rohit and Catherine returned to where they first met, Park City, Utah, along with their closest friends and family for an interfaith wedding at the St. Regis Deer Valley. "We chose to get married in Park City, Utah, because it was where we originally met," shares Catherine. "The entire weekend was a mix of both Western and Hindu culture. It was important the wedding reflected a sense of unity and blending of both our backgrounds. Our wedding occurred over two days and included a traditional Indian Sangeet, a combined Catholic-Hindu ceremony, and lots of dancing!"

Catherine shares that her initial meeting with Rohit was "very serendipitous. I was living in Salt Lake City at the time and my now-husband lived in San Francisco but was traveling to Salt Lake City weekly for work. One weekend, he decided to stay back with his coworker to go snowboarding. He just happened to meet some of my friends at the ski lodge and they invited him to a concert that night in Park City. We met at this concert and struck up a conversation as the last set played. We continued a long-distance relationship and made many trips between Salt Lake City and San Francisco before eventually moving to Chicago."

When it came to designing their Utah wedding celebration, the couple focused on showcasing the beauty of their natural surroundings. "To highlight the natural beauty of Park City, we chose to have each event emulate a different part of nature from sunsets to greenery. The Sangeet reflected a sunset palette of pinks and oranges while the wedding ceremony occurred outdoors against a mountain backdrop. The reception was designed to look like an enchanted forest complete with hanging greenery, lights, and chandeliers. I love the simple look of baby’s breath and we were able to incorporate this flower into each event."

In addition to personalizing the decor of each event throughout the multiday wedding, the couple also found other ways to bring their own unique spin to the nuptials. One such area of personalization was their music. "The music was very personalized for the multicultural event and included a mix of different genres," shares Catherine. "The first night was mostly Bollywood songs while the reception was a mix of Western classics, Caribbean, top hits, and Latin music. It was truly special to see everyone dancing along and embracing the different music styles. At one point my grandma was leading the cha-cha slide and at another, she was learning Bollywood dance moves." Some other unique moments of personalization include the Polaroid guest book the couple had and their flip flop station to encourage guests to dance the night away.

Looking back on the Utah wedding weekend, Catherine shares that "what made our wedding perfect was that all of our friends and families were able to come in the midst of the pandemic. Many of our friends and families live internationally or are scattered across the United States. It meant everything to have all our loved ones join us from across the world to celebrate our special weekend and share those memories that will last a lifetime. It’s a very special feeling knowing everyone is there to celebrate your love."
