A family friend of Dana thought she and Kevin would be a good match -- and she was right. The two went out on a blind date and never looked back. A proposal happened about two years later while they were visiting Penn State (Dana’s alma mater) with friends for a football game. The Bride Dana Kubene, communications and development manager The Groom Kevin Kuhn, restaurant proprietor The Date August 30 Before hitting the stadium, everyone took a stroll through campus. When they stopped to pose for a photo at one of Dana’s favorite campus spots, Kevin knelt down and proposed in front of the camera. They spent the rest of the day celebrating and tailgating with friends and family. “It was the perfect ‘Penn State Girl’ proposal,” says Dana. She and Kevin chose a historic mansion as a backdrop for their outdoor ceremony, which they filled with pink details.

No two cakes were alike at Dana and Kevin’s reception. Instead of one traditional wedding cake, they ordered two-tiered cakes, frosted in pink and brown buttercream accents to use as reception centerpieces. The cakes were set on top of martini glasses filled and lit with pink gel.
Round reception tables were topped with black tablecloths and two crisscrossed bright pink table runners. The table cakes sat in the middle in lieu of traditional floral centerpieces.
Dana’s four bridesmaids wore varying neckline styles of the same bright pink dress from JCrew. She bought her bridesmaids earrings and necklaces to accessorize.
Dana and Kevin exchanged vows on stone steps behind the Hillbrook mansion. Guests looked on from the grassy area beneath in white chairs. To define the aisle, the inner aisle ceremony chairs were decorated with pink roses and gerbera daisies, tied with pink ribbon.
There were two ring bearers who both wore black tuxes, vests, and pink rose boutonnieres. Instead of carrying the rings, the younger ring bearer walked down the aisle carrying a sign that read, “Here Comes the Bride.”
A creative escort card idea, Kevin and Dana put together CDs of their favorite songs, wrapped them in pink wrapping paper and tagged them with guests’ names and table numbers.
