A Chic, Modern Black-Tie Wedding at Steam Plant Dayton in Ohio

Brandon and Jake envisioned a modern black-tie wedding that mixed the old and the new for their celebration. To achieve that vision, they filled their industrial venue with unique antique finds like typewriters, trunks, apothecary jars and wooden toolboxes, then complemented the scene with an earthy color palette to create a masculine look. Succulents unified the design, appearing everywhere from the tabletop centerpieces to the marbled white and lemon cake.
Brandon and Jake walked down the aisle together. “We wanted to feel that rush of emotion side-by-side,” Brandon says.
The couple held their celebration in a former steam plant, featuring tall ceilings, exposed brick and arched windows.
Glasses of bubbly hung from a greenery-covered wall and sat atop an antique tea cart the couple restored for the occasion. Brandon, Jake and their best men rocked matching socks with the equality symbol. The couple made clear acrylic and vinyl menus using a Cricut machine. “We wanted something different than paper menus,” Brandon says. Dinner consisted of salads served in martini glasses, carved beef tenderloin and mac and cheese.
