It all started with a burger. When Joseph first met Máire at a mutual friend's barbeque in San Diego, he offered her a prime piece of beef, only, she was a vegetarian. Thankfully, she was flattered rather than offended by the gesture and the two shared laughs and got to know each other. At the time, both were from out of town. Máire was there for volunteer work and Joseph was on vacation. Two weeks later the two reconnected over lunch in Philadelphia (no burgers were involved this time) and romance followed.
