A Mid-Century Modern Wedding With Natural Touches at 21c Museum Hotel in Durham, North Carolina

When planning their wedding, Christian and Kory wanted to combine their love of mid-century modern design and Palm Springs with a bit of old-fashioned Carolina charm. The pair’s fun nature tied the vibe together, from their dapper shih tzus, who walked down the aisle with a niece, to a campy first dance. A doughnut display, glow sticks and cheeky signs kept up the whimsical mood into the night

.Kory made table markers out of wood cabinet samples and house numbers. Christian and Kory surprised guests with a choreographed first dance to a Lady Gaga mashup. “It was wild and had all sorts of crazy parts to it, including Jane Fonda leg raises,” Christian says. Little figurines, a gift from a friend, decorated the cocktail hour. Guests were served margaritas, daiquiris and local Ponysaurus beer. The newlyweds served carrot cake and mint green frosted doughnuts with custom to-go bags.
