This Microwedding at Heisler Park in Laguna Beach, California, Ended With Pregnancy Announcement
Karen and Ly tied the knot with a beachfront microwedding in Laguna Beach, California, that was complete with sunset portraits on the sand and even a pregnancy announcement. "Like many couples, COVID threw a wrench into our original wedding plans," recalls Karen. "Still wanting to get married on our original date of 10/10/2020 (which was also our nine-year dating anniversary!), we opted to get civilly married on that date. At first, I thought we’d just do a simple courthouse wedding and sign the papers, but then I changed my mind and wanted to have a small beach ceremony since that would be the closest to a tropical destination wedding I’d ever get haha. I lived in Hawaii when I was younger and we got engaged on the island of Maui, so I love all things tropical and wanted to incorporate that into our micro wedding."
Karen goes on to explain that the couple "had our ceremony in the middle of Heisler Park in Laguna Beach and our reception dinner at the Watertable restaurant at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach. The sky in Laguna Beach and sunset in Huntington Beach during dinner were unreal and just as majestic as ever!" To add even more joy to the wedding day, Karen and Ly "surprised our family and friends with our pregnancy announcement after the ceremony!"
Looking back on the wedding planning process, the couple encourages other to-be-weds to "enjoy the process and don’t forget to take time to soak it all in (the wedding) because the day goes by so quickly."
