Though Michelle and Justin both attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison (and in fact lived next door to one another when he was a member of Kappa Sigma and she a member of Pi Beta Phi), they remained distant friends...until shortly after graduation. Justin bought a house and I moved into an apartment with a mutual girlfriend, Kelly, and I often found myself going out with Kelly and her boyfriend Bob, who was Justin's best friend. Eventually Michelle and Justin went on a date for dinner and a movie. From there on out it was love, Michelle professes. The couple was just a few months away from celebrating their four-year anniversary (and a few days before Michelle's birthday) when Justin proposed during a surprise trip to Cancun. It was nighttime and they were cuddling on the beach. I was being a dork, enjoying a game of counting waves and promoting the theory that every seventh wave seemed to be bigger than the rest, remembers Michelle. And then, before I realized what was happening, Justin knelt on one knee and popped the question. They rushed back to the hotel and ordered a bottle of champagne to celebrate.
