Michele and Ken said I do in a morning ceremony at a San Diego Park, and celebrated with a reception at a historic mansion in La Jolla. The Bride Michele Durbin, a 35-year-old art director The Groom Ken Copen, a 35-year-old studio manager The Date August 25 Michele Durbin liked the look of Ken Copen from the start. Of course, she hadn't actually seen him at all -- but she had read his personal ad on Match.com, the popular Internet dating service. Michele was living in Seattle at the time and was interested in moving back to her native California. In an effort to meet someone there she came across Ken, who was living in northern California and hoping to date someone locally. She dropped him a note, and an email friendship began (although Ken didn't know that she was living so far away). Michelle finally moved closer to him, and romance soon followed. On Ken's birthday, he covered his apartment with roses, candles and I Love You balloons, and asked Michele to be his wife. They gave themselves only six and a half months to plan the wedding.
