Meghan Brown says it was love at first sight when Ryan Smith came by her parents’ house with a friend five years ago. Even though that first meeting had a major impact, the two were living far apart -- Meghan was in Ontario, and Ryan was going to school in Alberta -- so they didn’t connect again for a year. The two soon began dating long-distance, and from the first time she went to visit him in Alberta, Meghan says, “We knew we were going to spend the rest of our lives together.” The Bride Meghan Brown, 29, occupational therapist The Groom Ryan Smith, 28, medical student The Date August 18 Meghan and Ryan planned their entire wedding themselves, squeezing in time between med school exams to get every last bit done. “We met really great people along the way and were so happy with everyone who helped to make our day just the way we had wanted,” Meghan says. The couple also enjoyed taking on many of the projects themselves, including the invitations and programs. It all came together with an intimate outdoor ceremony at Vineland Estates Winery, followed by a reception that incorporated a white and green color palette. “We kept everything fresh and light,” Meghan explains. “The backdrop of the sprawling green vineyards was a perfect complement.”
