Mandy and Kevin have known each other since second grade. Both grew up in the same Maryland town and became friends in middle school. “Long bus rides teasing each other led to a strong friendship as we entered high school,” Mandy remembers. During their freshman year, Kevin finally asked Mandy out on a date. “Awkward but touching moments included sitting in the back seat of his mother’s car on the way to the movie and stealing our first kiss while his mom waited in the driveway,” she says. Following graduation, they found themselves elated to be living in the same zip code again, but soon afterward, Mandy moved to Boston to begin veterinary school. After another three years apart, Kevin moved up to be with her, and three months later, he proposed while they were on a trip to Scotland.
