Mala and Mason were introduced through a mutual friend while working at a summer camp. A camp counselor session had been scheduled to take place near Mala’s home, so she took the opportunity to invite all the counselors to her house that weekend, and there her friendship with Mason began, lasting through their final year of college. While most couples go out for dinner and a movie, Mala and Mason’s first date was a trip to Southern California. Mala’s four bridesmaids wore periwinkle-colored silk tops teamed with ivory pearl belts and light lavender skirts.
Escort cards were set up on a long table by the entrance of the room. Each card included the name of the guest and the table “city” where they had been assigned.
Small, galvanized buckets, filled with dried hydrangeas, were hung from the ceremony chairs with periwinkle satin ribbon. Two larger floral arrangements graced the area where Mala and Mason exchanged rings.

The reception tables, covered with purple satin and damask linens, were set with white dinner plates that were banded in silver and topped with white, satin-striped, menu-tucked napkins. For the first course, salad was served on an amethyst-colored glass plate.
Mala carried a bouquet of her favorite flower -- purple tulips -- mixed with a few lime green hydrangeas. The round posy-style bouquet was tied off with a braided, ivory, satin ribbon adorned with pearl buttons.
The program was created using a large script font, which the couple also used later for their thank-you cards. Each square-shaped program was printed on lavender paper and finished off with a sheer lavender ribbon.
The three-tiered round cake was covered in white fondant frosting with horizontal pleats and a vertical row of covered “buttons,” mimicking Mala’s gown. The cake was placed on a round silver stand and decorated with fresh purple flowers and a periwinkle satin bow.
