Luxuriously Edgy & Velvety DC Wedding at Dock 5
On their first date, Liz Secue (30 and works in sales operations) and Chris Martirano (32 and an account executive) went for a hike with Liz’s dog and connected over their love of the outdoors. After Chris proposed on a trail, the couple began planning a stylish autumn wedding with lots of greenery. “We wanted to feel like the wedding was outside,” Liz says. Rich jewel tones, black flatware, neon signage and leather lounge chairs completed the modern, moody look.
Liz carried a moody mix of anemones, peonies, scabiosa and roses, while Chris pinned foliage and berries to his lapel.
For dinner, the pair served butternut squash soup and short ribs with wild mushrooms and fried onions.
Smilax hung over the dance floor and ran down the dinner tables, while pillar candles and bistro lights created a warm glow. “We wanted to have a romantic, intimate feel even though it was a large, industrial venue,” Liz says. Liz and Chris offered guests red velvet cake, salted caramel cheesecake shooters, doughnuts, milk and cookies and an assortment of pies. “We love dessert and wanted lots of options to choose from,” Liz says.
