Lucite Modernized the Neoclassical Architecture at This Couple's Houston, Texas, Wedding Venue
The meet-cute that brought Michelle Liu (32 and a finance estimator) and Soo Cho (34 and an acquisitions general manager) is the stuff blockbuster Rom-Coms are made of. The couple started out friends, but happened to live on the same street, “a very narrow street! Our balconies faced each other, too! We would meet all the time at the corner between our places.” Over time, their corner meetings grew and one day Soo chose that very location for his proposal to Michelle.
Michelle wanted her wedding to have, “white, marble, gold and a lot of clean lines and geometric edges.” The bride admittedly doesn’t like color (her favorite shades are black, white and grey) and it was key that, “everything feel like me and for guests to feel the essence of me in the décor,” she says. Michelle wanted her bouquet to feel modern and full of greenery. As such, the arrangement didn’t feature any blooms, just, “a mix of all different greenery with different textures and hanging greens.” The couple skipped a traditional wedding cake because Michelle is, “a dessert fiend and wanted a 75 lb. candy bar and my favorite Whole Foods cake as dessert!” Michelle slipped into jumpsuit for the reception, which was perfect for her Backstreet Boys first dance with Soo. Fireworks and confetti added more merriment to the night.
Not only did Michelle and Soo take portraits against the Houston skyline, they served Whataburger sandwiches as a very Southern late-night snack.
