Lisa and Todd met at a reading in Brooklyn. Todd caught Lisa’s attention while he was on stage telling a story about an ex-girlfriend, and after he sat down, Lisa kept her eyes on him. Todd, who had noticed Lisa at the beginning of the show, was doing the same thing, specifically noting what made Lisa laugh. When the show ended, they introduced themselves to each other, got drinks with a group of people, and exchanged websites. They started dating soon after. The Bride Lisa Whiteman, 34, producer and photographer The Groom Todd Levin, 38, comedy writer The Date October 18 Lisa and Todd took a trip to Argentina, and while relaxing after dinner at an estancia, Todd handed Lisa his list of New Year’s resolutions. He asked her to read them one at a time, and to tell him what she thought about each one. When she turned the page over, it read, “Ask Lisa to marry me.” Then, Todd asked Lisa himself and handed her an engagement ring made of orange and green candy. Later, they picked out a vintage setting together, and Todd surprised Lisa with a stone.

Lisa found her the shoes on eBay for $30. She had bought the antique shoes before they were even engaged without knowing when she’d ever wear them.
The bright yellow color of Lisa’s custom-made wedding dress was inspired by a dress Michelle Williams once wore to the Oscars. Lisa accessorized with a necklace she found at RePop, a vintage furniture store in Brooklyn.
The couple framed one of their engagement photos and placed it on the table with the guest book.
Lisa and Todd collected wedding photos from both of their families, put them in vintage frames, and placed one on each table at the reception. The photos were dated as far back as the 1800s and as recent as the 1990s. A card accompanied each photo to indicate who was in it and how they were related to the newlyweds.
The ceremony at the Montauk Club was anything but traditional. Lisa’s father officiated the couple’s wedding ceremony, which they co-wrote with him. Instead of a traditional wedding party, family members and friends read passages during the ceremony. For their vows, Lisa and Todd wrote and read love letters to each other.
Yellow roses and berries, similar to the ones Lisa wore in her hair, decorated the ceremony aisle.
The couple had a stamp custom-made of their monogram logo, which they used to decorate mix CD wedding favors.
To incorporate the fall colors and match her yellow dress, Lisa carried a bouquet of orange and yellow roses, mums, and honeysuckles.
Lisa and Todd bought plain wooden figurines, and Todd painted them to look like himself and Lisa.
Lisa and Todd ordered multiple smaller cakes instead of one tall wedding cake. This fondant vanilla and raspberry cake was decorated with orange and yellow frosted flowers to match the color palette.
