Actors Leigh and Sean played the role of a lifetime at an elegant supper club-style wedding with playful touches like an old school photo booth. The Bride Leigh Elliott, actor/writer The Groom Sean McGowan, actor The Date July 22 Leigh and Sean decided to go for a summer sunset boat ride during a birthday celebration for Leigh at her family cottage in Georgian Bay, ON. When we got back from the ride the entire dock and all the rocks were covered with fifty huge white candles that Sean had carried all the way from Los Angeles and my parents had set up at his request, says Leigh. Music was playing and there was champagne and a book sitting on a little table. I must say it did occur to me that this was very romantic for a birthday but I took it all to be yet another gift. The book turned out to be a photo scrapbook Sean had put together of our combined lives. After that, how could Leigh say anything but yes?

The Cake
An old-fashioned black and white photo booth was unveiled after dinner and guests were encouraged to pose for pictures. Individual goslin envelopes with the couple's L & S logo and wedding date were provided to keep the pictures clean and safe.
Because it was at an old movie theatre we had the old marquee in which we put, 'Now Playing Mr. & Mrs. McGowan' and we created huge movie posters like the Mr. & Mrs. Smith posters that were out at the time, with the two of us in the pose with a bouquet and a champagne bottle instead of the guns. Our wedding date took the place of the opening day. It was hilarious! Leigh says.
To create an elegant old supper club feel for dinner (think 1940s classy black tie with some cheek) the celebration continued at the Eglinton Grand, a 1930s deco theatre turned reception space. The decor is very classy with dark mahogany bars and dance floor, traditional deco sculptures and white leather club chairs so we didn't need to add too much with the space, the bride explains. She and Sean chose all white tables and linens with centerpieces made from a mirrored tile topped with a square vase with one floating ivory cabbage rose and four square votive candles on each corner of the tile.
Leigh and Sean wed during a candlelit ceremony at the same church where her parents got married. We had a harpist and a flutist play during the hour before, the organ for the processional -- Trumpet Voluntary -- and recessional -- Water Music, the bride says. For an added personal touch, a friend of the couple's who is a professional singer sang Andrew Lloyd Webber's Love Changes Everything while Leigh and Sean signed the register.
I just wanted the flowers to be ivory and yellow and green and soft. Puffy even! Leigh laughs, So we went with cabbage roses right across the board because they are big, soft and puffy.
The Hair
Her ivory silk Tomasina gown featured spaghetti straps and a low v-neck fitted with tiny pleats to just below the waist that flowed into a full train. Leigh's accessories included an antique platinum and diamond bracelet that belonged to her grandmother and diamond and crystal chandelier earrings.
