Laurlynn & Ken: A Traditional Wedding in University Park, PA

From the on-campus location to the Penn State save-the-date cards, Pennsylvania alums Laurlynn and Ken created a wedding that reflected their shared history. Laurlynn Adams and Kenneth (Ken) Mular first met through Laurlynn’s mother, though their paths would cross many more times in the years that followed. Laurlynn (a 25-year-old electrical engineer) next ran into Ken (a 42-year-old senior staff auditor) at an office where she was interning a few years later, and then again at a restaurant where she worked as a waitress. The following year, she was living in Birmingham when she learned Ken was in town. “I remembered how nice, smart, and handsome he was,” she says. The two soon went on their first dinner date to a Mexican restaurant and clicked once and for all. After more than a year of dating, they were at Penn State (they are both alums), where Ken had two questions to ask: “He first asked [the statue of] the Nittany Lion for permission,” Laurlynn says, “and then he proposed to me!” The pair returned to the Penn State campus nine months later for their spring wedding at The Nittany Lion Inn.
