The Bride Lauren Feldsher, 30, a chef The Groom Steve Pilgrim, 30, a TV and film editor The Date June 7 After booking a space and canceling twice because no venue felt just right, Lauren Feldsher and Steve Pilgrim decided to host their celebration at Steve's parents' home in eastern Pennsylvania. After that, everything fell into place, the relieved bride says.

Rain exploded from the unpredictable summer skies, moving the party to an emergency weather tent (or oxygen tent, as Lauren and Steve laughingly refer to it). Fortunately, exquisite decorations breathed life into the cozy space. White and red Chinese lanterns hung from the ceiling. Chic cubism shaped the table settings -- square plates, square glassware, and square orange and pink silk dupioni napkins adorned the square tables.
Lauren wore a white silk, asymmetric A-line gown with a V-neck and spaghetti straps.
Lauren and Steve's first dance was I Can't Help Falling in Love with You by Elvis. Toward the end of the day, the optimistic band played the Beatles' Here Comes the Sun. Sadly, the sun failed to appear, but the party never stopped dancing in the rain.
Even the lemon butter cake filled with Grand Marnier buttercream (and decked with roses and the ever-present pink peonies) got the four-sided treatment.
David Weidis, a family friend, officiated and he asked us to write down 10 things we loved about one another, Lauren says. He read few aloud during the service and incorporated loving quotes from our family.
Pink and white peonies lushly covered the huppah for the Jewish and Christian ceremony, while unique, simple, and compact arrangements blended orange, pink, and purple roses, purple orchids, and hot-pink peonies. We had lots of peonies, she says. Lauren's bouquet included peonies and calla lilies; Steve wore an orange calla lily in his lapel.
The invitations combined a clean look with a fresh color combination -- bright red with green floral icons-to set the day's vibrant tone. The vibrant stationery, including programs and favor stickers, were designed by the Lauren and Steve's friend Tamara Duncan.
Conceivably, leftovers could be stored in the striking wedding favors: Chinese take-out boxes. Inside, colorful fortune cookies contained such lighthearted custom messages as You like cake and If your feet don't hurt you haven't danced enough.
