Dinner was followed by two wedding cakes. Lauren and Robert cut into five tiers of fluffy white almond cake filled with alternating layers of raspberry and blackberry. A ribbon that matched the color of the bridesmaid dresses ran around the bottom of each tier, and pink roses topped it off. Both the wedding cakes and the groom’s cake, which was chocolate, were iced with Godiva white-chocolate icing.

Lauren and Robert combined traditional vows from their different faiths (she’s Catholic; he’s Presbyterian) and chose readings from the books of Genesis and Ephesians that held special meaning for each of them. The couple also personalized their day by using the same processional and recessional music that Lauren’s parents had used in their wedding. The ceremony concluded with a traditional Irish blessing, honoring the bride’s family’s heritage.
The Boutonniere
As guests entered the chapel, they received programs with toile-pattern covers and fans tied with blue bows and featuring the bride’s favorite poem printed on one side.
When the reception wrapped up, the newlyweds headed out the door amid rose petals and butterflies (a surprise from Lauren’s mother).
