Lauren and Andy first met while both were working for the same bank. Andy was based in the London office but had come across the pond for a two-month training course in New York, where he met Lauren. After Andy headed back to London, the two kept things going with lots of emails and phone calls, as well as plenty of trans-Atlantic flights. While on a trip to the Lake District, the two decided to hike up a hillside in spite of the threatening weather. Lauren was admiring the view when she realized Andy was down on one knee. “The weather was so bad that I thought he had fallen!” she says. She figured out what was really happening just a moment later—and, of course, she said yes.
