Lauren and Aaron's wedding was definitely an affair to remember. And why not? As the bride says, “After dating for seven years, I knew that this would be a spectacular wedding -- we had so much to celebrate! The Bride Lauren Hachmeister The Groom Aaron Metz The Date July 31 Lauren, a 25-year-old event consultant manager, and Aaron, who’s 26 and in commercial real estate acquisitions, first met in high school, and continued to date while both were attending the University of Denver. Seven years later, Aaron planned a “low-key night” to celebrate both Valentine’s Day and their anniversary. “He really outdid himself by grilling burgers on his George Foreman,” Lauren says with a laugh. Little did she know it was all a ruse: After their decidedly casual meal, Aaron told her to go home and pack for the weekend. One surprise red-eye flight later, the two were in New York. Following a fun-filled day, they walked to Central Park, where Aaron proposed in one of the horse-drawn carriages. “I don’t remember much of what he said, we were both so emotional!” Lauren says. (Guess what: She said yes.)

The Reception Decor

At Lauren and Aaron's reception, tables covered in ivory silk dupioni featured alternating centerpieces of either tall arrangements of loosely flowing white orchids, pink nerine lilies, and greenery or low clusters of orchids and hydrangea.
The Bride
Garlands of white dendrobrium orchids were draped over the railways of the stairs leading to the church entrance, and the bridal party walked down a custom-made ivory silk aisle runner created by the mother of the groom.
Lauren’s three bridesmaids wore strapless silk organza dresses in black. The groom and guys all wore black tuxedos from Ralph Lauren. The couple also placed a special order with Justina McCaffrey and had a necktie made with the same fabric used in Lauren’s gown for Aaron to wear.

Lauren carried a cascading bouquet of white orchids, lily grass, and a few small pink nerine lilies.

Lauren customized her ivory silk taffeta Justina McCaffrey gown with a cluster of silk rosettes set in feathers, which she fastened at the back of her dress above the bustle for the reception.
