Laura & Matt: A Traditional Wedding in Tarrytown, NY

Laura and Matt found love doing what they love -- protecting the environment. Laura met Matt in an AmeriCorps program with the Student Conservation Association. Matt, an experienced camper, taught environmental education for five months. Laura was a city girl, but went out of her comfort zone to help Matt perform trail work for state parks and nonprofits throughout Massachusetts. They had already been a couple for three years when Matt arranged a romantic road trip through South Carolina. The two shared an authentic South Carolina lunch of shrimp, grits and Hoppin' John (a concoction of black eyed peas and chopped vegetables) that Matt cooked the night before. After dining in the garden amongst the peacocks, the couple took a sailboat ride at sunset and that's when Matt pulled out the ring. Thirteen months later the two were married in a traditional Catholic ceremony and a reception overlooking the Hudson River.
