So when plans with friends fell through one particular night a few days before Christmas, Laura started to get suspicious. With no one to see, the couple made plans for a fancy dinner at the Madison Hotel in downtown Memphis. Afterward, Laura suggested they go up on the roof of the hotel, “making it very easy for him,” she says. Just as she turned to go inside and escape the chilly December weather, Brad was down on one knee. “He said some of the sweetest things I have ever heard,” she says, which made it very easy for her to accept.
