When planning their wedding, Barb and Arthur considered eloping, but soon realized they still wanted a chance to celebrate with loved ones. Their perfect middle ground? A private exchange of vows in a flower shop, followed by a lively reception filled with family and friends. “We got to have an intimate ceremony where we could be fully present and have the freedom to be authentic without distraction,” says Barb.

Cappuccino roses, spray-painted eucalyptus and pampas grass made up the earthy centerpieces and floating arrangement, which hung over the dance floor. “We wanted our reception to have a laid-back lounge feel, so we rented sofas, coffee tables and rugs,” Barb says. The open seating setup allowed guests to mix and mingle. The night’s eats included chili-lime shrimp tacos and Cuban pork for dinner, as well as Brazilian brigadeiros for dessert.
