Ashley Carrier may have proposed to Kristen Dame on a cold Maine morning, but their lush summer wedding was anything by chilly. The couple exchanged vows against a backdrop of beautiful harbor views and ended the celebration with a sunset cruise. But at the last minute, everyone decided not to go, so Ashley instituted Plan B. He took Kristen for a romantic walk in the woods behind her parent’s house and proposed. In addition to the pink and taupe color palette, Kristen and Ashley (a Montreal native) wanted to incorporate a French theme into their day. The Couple
Kristen made the table cards out of quilling paper and wrote out each number in French.
Kristen’s favorite feature of her Maggie Sottero gown was the light gold ribbon corset in the back, which was teamed with an A-line satin skirt with lace overlay and a sweep train. Each bridesmaid wore strapless, tea-length, chiffon dresses from After Six.
The Couple
After the ceremony, guests traveled to the Bar Harbor Inn for the reception. Walls of windows allowed guests to look into the harbor, and the large dance floor was positioned in front of the fireplace. A piano player entertained guests during the cocktail hour. When the reception was over, everyone was treated to a two-hour sunset cruise.
Kristen and Ashley gave their guests small ivory boxes filled with chocolates and wrapped in pink ribbon with a taupe tag that read “Merci.
Kristen carried light pink roses, while her maids held dark pink roses surrounded by light pink sweet peas. Two urns of flowers decorated the altar during the ceremony, and green tin baskets of pink and white flowers decorated the pews.
