Kim Gochenauer and Wayne Stevens achieved a romantic feel for their wedding day with espresso and ivory hues plus a sweet country-style setting at a Central Pennsylvania bed-and-breakfast. The Bride Kimberly M Gochenauer, 30, hair stylist The Groom Wayne Stevens, 35, architect The Date September 2 Kim and Wayne officially met a few years back when Kim was out celebrating her birthday with friends. Wayne and I grew up right around the corner from each other, Kim says. Being five years apart in age though, our paths never really crossed until that night. After months of hanging out with mutual friends, the two finally began to date. Two years later, Wayne proposed to Kim at a Christmas party in front of their families and friends with a poem he had written. Everyone knew but me! Kim remembers. It was a great surprise.

The Favors
Kim and Wayne worked with their cake designer to concoct the perfect dessert. The three-tier cake featured different flavors and decorations on each tier, and was topped off with a chocolate S. The top tier was classic white wedding cake iced in ivory with chocolate fondant polka dots. The middle tier was chocolate cake with peanut butter icing decorated with ivory scrolls. The bottom tier again featured classic white cake, but this time with chocolate and ivory fondant stripes. They also had their baker include ribbon charms in the icing -- each of Kim's bridesmaids pulled one out, with each charm representing a different fortune. It was a fun way to incorporate them into the cake cutting! Kim says.
Each bridesmaid carried a unique bouquet with ivory flowers -- one calla lilies, another hydrangea, and so on -- accented with smaller sprays of pink and green and tied off with an espresso brown ribbon. Kim's bouquet combined the blooms found in all of her maids' bouquets and was tied with an ivory ribbon.
An aisle lined in ivory petals led to the flower-bedecked arbor beneath which Kim and Wayne exchanged vows. A harpist played for the processional. I'll never forget the butterflies that day as we began our walk through the trees down the aisle, Kim says. They were everywhere.
Following the ceremony, the reception unfolded both inside and outside the inn. A tent covered the patio for the cocktail hour, which featured the bride's favorite drink, the amaretto sour, as the signature cocktail.
