Kelly & Robert in Philadelphia, PA
On his first day at Drexel University, Robert sat down next to fellow freshman Kelly. They chatted and, that night at a party, they bumped into each other. That's where they began their on and off relationship that was exclusively on by the summer of 2001. The Bride Kelly Gibb, 26, architect The Groom Robert Piasecki, 27, architect The Date June 28 Five years and several European vacations later, they were engaged. After months of designing all of the wedding elements themselves, they faced a day-of disaster. There was a fire in the building during their cocktail hour, and everyone had to evacuate. Once the fires were out, the festivities continued, but since the elevators were no longer working, everyone had to hike up 11 flights of stairs to get to the reception—in the ballroom that was no longer air-conditioned. Thankfully, the couples’ handmade details remained intact. Their custom wedding logo in blue, brown and gold carried through from the invitations to the favors. To capture their Philadelphia spirit, Kelly and Robert posed for pictures at city landmarks, which they later used for welcome bags, table numbers and escort cards.
