Kaye & Rhett: A Fall Wedding in Kansas City, MO

Kaye and Rhett met and fell in love in Kansas City, so they planned a fall affair that centered around the best the city has to offer. THE BRIDE Kaye Ness THE GROOM Rhett Belser THE DATE October 16 Rhett, a 30-year-old corporate safety manager, was never much of a dater, but he was intrigued by a company he kept hearing about called FaciliDate, which invites large numbers of men and women to social gatherings, where each person spends three minutes talking to different “dates.” At the end, everyone reports to the company his or her “hits” and “misses.” Those who “hit” each other are then put in touch by email. On a whim, Rhett gave it a shot. By the end of the night, he’d met 40 women and had marked a handful of them as “hits.” They were all something of a blur at that point, “and my throat was sore from so much talking!” he says. But then one of his “hits” contacted him. “We didn’t really remember having met each other; we just knew that we had, and had liked each other!” says Kaye, 31. A year later they were engaged, and Kaye was busy planning a wedding she hoped would be an homage to Kansas City, where she and Rhett fell in love.
