Katy & Mark in Kiawah Island, SC
Katy Paulsen and Mark Cobb met at a party thrown by Katy and two of her roommates. They held theme parties twice a year, but since Mark had never been to one before, he didn’t realize that though the invites were elaborate, it wasn’t a costume party. “To date we can’t figure out which is worse: that I agreed to go on a date with someone in a mullet wig, or that he went on a date with someone who would go on a date with someone in a mullet wig!” Katy says. Four and a half years later, Mark proposed to Katy on Kiawah Island. The Bride Katharine (Katy) Paulsen, 30, massage therapist and event planner The Groom Mark Cobb, 32, professional drummer The Date April 28 Katy and Mark’s wedding keywords were “organic, natural, rustic, elegant, and beautiful,” the bride says. Kiawah Island, where Mark proposed and where Katy’s family used to live, was the perfect spot for their celebration. The island itself provided the theme, inspiring a palette of greens, browns, and yellows, and as for the flowers and decor, “if it didn’t technically grow on the island, I wanted it to look like it could have,” the bride explains.
