From the moment Katie laid eyes on Brian at Carnegie Mellon University, it was love at first...sideburn. Brian worked the register at the campus convenience store and it was his long sideburns and Phish T-shirt that instantly attracted Katie. After connecting at a mutual friend's Christmas party, the two became inseparable, dated throughout college and, after graduation, moved to Washington, D.C. For their wedding, they rented out a quaint bed-and-breakfast for the entire weekend, so all 70 guests had a place to call home.

Guest names were printed on paper flowers displayed in a bed of fresh wheatgrass.
Katie and Brian picked Lawnboy by Phish, a song that reminded them of cherished memories together. The couple selected their own music and played it from a laptop connected to a speaker system.
At each setting was a jar of homemade strawberry jam, tagged with a label bearing the couple's name and wedding date.
Katie carried a vivid collection of apricot garden roses, coral Amsterdam roses, pink lisianthus, burgundy vanda orchids, chocolate cymbidium orchids, green Kermit mums, and Brazilia berries.
Katie and Brian cut into a chocolate cake trimmed in dark pink satin ribbon and burgundy and pink cymbidium orchids.
The flower girl carried a ribbon-wrapped basket lined with moss and filled with burgundy vanda orchids.
Katie and Brian wed beneath a large oak tree. The couple read traditional vows and included four readings, including I Carry Your Heart by e.e. cummings.
To match the rustic setting, the bridesmaids wore espresso-colored silk chiffon tea-length dresses from J Crew. Each carried a bouquet of creamy hydrangeas, lisianthus, freesia, and Brazilia berries.
Four shepherd's hooks lined each side of the aisle with hanging bronze buckets of creamy hydrangeas, soft blush garden roses, lisianthus, green Kermit mums, green amaranthus, and Brazilia berries.
