Katie & Andy: A Formal Wedding in St. Paul, MN

The race for student council president at Pine Bend Elementary had been a nail biter. Despite the success of the “Vote for Katie Kostner!” campaign among the notoriously fickle fourth-grade demographic, Andy Sieberer pulled ahead for the win. As Katie remembers it, though, the loss wasn’t too crushing. Andy points out that with a history as long as theirs, it’s hard to say when their first date was. “You could say it was the homecoming dance our freshman year of high school, but my mom had to drive us -- so can you really consider that a date?” he says. Fittingly, he proposed in a city with a long (and political) history, slipping a ring on Katie’s finger during a trip to Boston. “Her first reaction was ‘No way!’” Andy admits. “Fortunately, it was an exclamation of surprise!”
