Kathryn and Chad's wedding in Cape Cod put a modern twist on tradition. The Bride Kathryn McCarthy, 27 The Groom Chad Maguire, 34 The Date June 21 Even though Kathryn McCarthy and Chad Maguire are sports fans (Super Bowl Sunday is their dating anniversary), they aren't sprinters. But planning their destination wedding in six months felt like running a 100-yard dash, Kathryn says.

Kathryn wore an ivory strapless A-line gown with a multiple-layer organza skirt and chapel-length veil.
Wearing knee-length lilac dresses with an ivory organza sash, seven bridesmaids carried bouquets of blue, lilac, lavender, and white hydrangeas. Lilac stone bracelets resembling sea glass, given to them by Kathryn, completed the look.
Cool New England waters, traditional monogramming, and a soft, beachy lilac inspired every exquisite accent. The invitations boasted a lilac interlocking CK (Chad and Kathryn) emblem -- as did the programs, menus, and place cards. For the ceremony, two wreaths made from lavender hydrangeas hung outside the white doors of the hilltop church.

The local Catholic church was booked but, Kathryn says, the First Congregational Church welcomed us and our priest with open arms.
Kathryn's bouquet was made up of ivory roses with a collar of stephanotis (the flower the groomsmen sported) and lily of the valley (what Chad and the couple's fathers wore).
Kathryn and Chad chose the charming Nantucket location in record time. Having spent countless weekends together on the island, it was the obvious choice. Plus, we're water lovers, the bride, an asset manager for a real estate development company, says. So they rented a huge house on the ocean and set up a tent for the 200-person lawn party. The greatest thing about the house was that we were able to have our entire wedding party stay with us.
An undeniably Cape Cod cocktail hour featured an antique wooden canoe filled with trays of littlenecks, oysters, and shrimp on ice. Those seeking libations flocked to the martini glass-shaped ice sculpture filled with blushing pink cosmopolitans. The main course included seasonal favorites like herb-crusted tenderloin and a trio of spicy lemon grilled shrimp.
