Kara and Jeff met through a friend of Kara’s who was the bassist in a band where Jeff was the drummer. Kara often went to their shows, and eventually she and Jeff -— who Kara “had always thought was cute” —- hit if off. Their first “official” date was at the BB King Blues Club in New York City, where both were living at the time. As they waited for a table at a restaurant on the water, Jeff suggested they go and watch the sunset on the beach -- nothing too unusual, thought Kara. As the sun went down, Jeff fell to one knee and proposed. “I was completely surprised and elated,” she says. They wed in her home state almost a year to the day later.

The reception took place beneath a tented pavilion filled with candlelight and strings of white lights.
Kara and Jeff served their guests a four-tiered cake iced in white buttercream with lace-style motifs. The top tier was separated with blue sugar hydrangeas. “It was so good we barely had any to take home!” Kara says.
A friend of the bride’s mother created blue toile fans, personalized with the couple’s names and the wedding date, for the guests.
Kara wore a sleeveless ivory gown with a beaded Empire waist and a small train accented with bows by Casablanca.
Kara carried a bouquet of all-white mini calla lilies.
The Reception Decor
Kara and Jeff wed in a sunset ceremony outdoors at The Gardens at Sunday Park, with a view of the reservoir nearby. A minister and a rabbi performed the interfaith ceremony. Rather than having a wedding party, Kara and Jeff chose to have their siblings and parents stand at the huppah with them.
The flowers featured at the wedding were mostly blue, dominated by blue and purple hydrangeas.
