When subtle hints didn’t clue Joe in to the fact that Jill liked him, a friend of hers took a more direct approach. The Bride Jill LaCombe, 28, consultant The Groom Joe Arlinghaus, 29, consultant The Date May 5 Jill and Joe, both consultants, met at work and became close when the two traveled together on business. Joe never made a move to become more than just friends, though, despite Jill’s attempts to let him know she was interested. “Joe and I would work out every day on our lunch hour,” she says. “This was a clear sign that I liked Joe because I hate working out.” Finally, Joe showed up at her place for a party, and one of her friends “marched right up to him and said, ‘Do you like Jill or what?’” Jill says. Joe then found Jill, made his feelings equally clear, and the two began dating. A year later he proposed on the balcony of their home, which overlooks the church where the pair wed the following year.
